College Magazine Front Cover Layout!

Here is an idea for a layout for the front cover of my music magazine. I decided to put the masthead at the top in big lettering so that the name of the magazine is clear to the reader. I put the stories of the magazine around the outside of the cover so that the main focus of the background image cant be hidden behind any font or other article pictures. the background image is about the whiole magazine therefore as this magazine is a music magazine the image is one we have taken of a fake group/singer.

Technique 3 - Angle!

This technique focus' on the angle of the camera. the camera can be twisted and turned into different positions to get different angles of photographs. This photograph shows that the camera has been twisted to the right causing the people in the photo to become diagonal across the frame.

This second photograph has been taken from a lower point of view so that the person in the photo is being looked at from below.

Technique 2 - Rule of Thirds!

The Rule of Thirds is when the main focus of the photograph takes up one third of the frame causing the audience to look directly at the main focus but so that the photograph also shows background pattern. in these photos, the main attractions are found in the right hand third of the frame.

Technique 1 - Vanishing Point!

Here are some examples of vanishing point photographs. a photograph using the technique of a vanishing point shows depth and distance within the photo. it shows objects closer to the camera on the sides with a central point being something in the distance and preferably something like a fence which i have used as something representing objects getting further away.

Eminem!

Eminem is the most popular white rapper in the world. He is well known for his outrageous lyrics explaining his life including a lot of swear words.

Marshall began rapping at an early age of 4, rhyming words together and battling against schoolmates in the dining hall. This shone some light into his life, as living with a single mother, aged 19, in a rough area was very difficult. he found it hard to settle into schools as he was moving between Kansas City and Detroit throughout his childhood. he moved schools often due to bad behaviour preventing him from making friends and getting good grades.

He had become very serious about his rapping by the age of 14, however, it wasn't until the age of 17 that he decided to use his initials M&M as his rap name, he later re-spelt it as Eminem. Unfortunately, other rap artists rejected him due to his race, which flared his anger and shows through his songs to this day. At the end of his failed third attempt at 9th grade, he quit school to follow his rapping career appearing on radio shows and battling it out to gain publicity. He failed most, if not all, of the battle he entered. However, light began to shine at the end of the tunel for young Marshall. He released his first album, 'Infinite', which then lead to Eminem performing on small stages, even though the album only sold less than 1000 copies.

Eminem entered the 1997 Rap Olympics as the prize money, which was $1,500, was something he desperately needed as he now had a daughter to raise with long time girlfriend Kim Scott. he fought with everything he had throwing back every racial comment making it to second place. he blew his chance and lost the battle. however, what he didn't realise was that there were some producers from interscope along with Dr. Dre. Dr. Dre heard Eminem's album 'infinite' and was impressed. So he decided to track Eminem down, the hit it off straight away and, within the first six hours of working together, they recorded four songs together. Dre then asked eminem to go and work with him on his new album. The duo made a second album called the Marshall Mathers LP, winning 3 grammies and was the first rap album ever to be nominated "Album of the Year". 8 million copies of the album were sold in the US alone.

NME Magazine Cover! Eminem Recovery!

NME Magazine is one of the top selling music magazines in the UK, but why is this? The magazine is aimed at teenagers aged between 13 to 19, both boys and girls. The front cover is the selling point of the magazine. The majority of the cover is taken up by a picture of the main star of the magaxine, who, in this case, is Eminem.
There are several sub-headers, as well as the main cover line, telling you what other stories are in the magazine. The bold text and contrasting colours used, black, white and red, help the magazine stand out among other magazines on the shelf giving it a btter chance of selling.
